Barents Sea Conference

Norway2UK has been asked by the Supply Chain managers of Statoil and ENI Norge in the Barents Sea Region to introduce UK companies that are capable of adding extra capacity and competence.
Norway2UK will be taking a delegation of UK companies to the Barents Sea Conference (BSC)(Norwegian Language) 23rd-25th April 2012. The Barents Sea region is a new and developing opportunity where there is a high demand for additional capacity and competence which the UK can provide. At Northern Norway's largest and most influential oil and gas conference and exhibition UK companies have the opportunity to discover new opportunities and met with key operators, local and regional authorities, and with local contractors and sub-contractors delivering to the industry.
"Finding UK companies with experience in subsea as well as the engineering industries such as mechanical and electronics will be vitally important to help support the growing industry and opportunities in the Barents Sea region." - Arvid Jensen, MD of Petro Arctic AS. (Feb 2012).
Norway2UK is working closely with the supply chain managers for Statoil and ENI Norge in the region to help the development and operation of the Snøhvit LNG facility and future expansion projects in North Norway including Skrugårdand Havis, 2 huge discoveries that have been made in the last 10 months which could total 400-600 million barrels of recoverable oil equivalents.
"Skrugard and Havis open up a new petroleum province in the North. The discoveries will be important for industrial development and will further boost activity in the supplier industry, providing new jobs and generating spin-off effects throughout the region." - Helge Lund, President and CEO of Statoil ASA. (Jan 2012)
The BSC focus on Northern Norway gives UK companies the perfect opportunity to supply more to the Barents Sea Region and to the rest of Norway.
Typically a Norwegian supplier focused event, this year Norway2UK has been given the opportunity to establish a UK pavilion at 2012's BSC. The UK pavilion offers a straightforward and cost-effective way exhibit at such a high-profile Norwegian event. UK companies have the opportunity to take space on the Norway2UK's exhibition share-stand offering the chance at meeting new contacts and potentially winning new business.

Development of Skrugard
Investment in the Norwegian oil and gas industry is high and will be rising in North Norway following the Skrugard discovery in the Barents Sea. Statoil say the discovery is a breakthrough in the Barents Sea and one of the most important events on the Norwegian continental shelf in the last ten years. A significant oil discovery 200 kilometres north of the coast of Finnmark was announced by Statoil on Friday April 1st, but this was no joke. The Skrugard prospect is believed to contain recoverable reserves of 150 to 250 millionbarrels of oil equivalent. Statoil says the upside in the licence can be even bigger. Arvid Jensen, Petro Arctic AS, "The Skrugard field could be put in production as soon as 2018".
Statoil makes another Barents Sea find.
Statoil has made its second significant oil discovery in the Arctic waters of the Barents Sea in the course of nine months. The test drilling at its Havis prospect off Norway's northern shore within the Arctic circle suggested between 200m and 300m barrels of oil equivalent (bo/e) should be present. The find complements another major find at Skrugard, an adjacent but geologically separate prospect made last year boosting estimates of recoverable reserves across the licence area to 400m-600m bo/e.
Developing North Norwegian business.
Petro Arctic AS is an organisation representing the interests of Norwegian companies wishing to position themselves as suppliers to the development and operation of the Snøhvit LNG facility and the future expansion project in North Norway and the Barents Sea.
'Levert! 2010' a report that was presented by Petro Arctic at the Barents Sea Conference in Hammerfest showed the challenges that North Norway faces. Companies based in North Norway who service the oil and gas industry were interviewed to determine their deliveries to the petroleum industry. Overall, they were responsible for the delivery of industry-specific goods and services to the value of 3.64 billion NOK (approx. £400m). The image below shows that the companies values are spread across a huge area.Full report (Norwegian).

The Barents Sea Conference & Expo
At Northern Norway's largest and most influential oil and gas conference and exhibition Norway2UK discovered new opportunities and met with prominent Norwegian industry leaders, decision makers and ministers (Attendance list) to discuss the future of the Barents Sea and it's development.
The overriding consensus was that there was a big need for an increase in competence to deliver to the fledgling oil and gas industry in the region.
We were tasked with developing a supply chain from the UK which could be utilised to develop the competence and delivery ability of Northern Norway. This provides UK companies with an opportunity not only to sell, provide goods and services but most important to form collaborative partnerships with Norwegian companies to build the relationships for the long term development of the industry in the area.
